Shaggy and Bootsy Collins at the Plaza June 18
On Wednesday, June 18th Shaggy and Bootsy Collins will be performing as part of the Summer at the Plaza series. Opening up is DJ Nate da Great.

Known as the “man who put bass in yer face, Bootsy Collins is one of the all-time great funk and R&B bassists / singers / bandleaders. His first group, the Pacesetters, functioned as James Brown’s backup band, and Bootsy’s inspired, clever progressions and patterns on the bass were a vital part of James Brown’s recordings. Bootsy later joined George Clinton’s Parliament/Funkadelic, before launching Bootsy’s Rubber Band as a spinoff to P-Funk.
Shaggy is a reggae fusion singer, widely known for his hit album “Boombastic” that won the 1996 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. Other hits include It Wasn’t Me and Angel. In 2012 Shaggy received a Grammy Nomination for his 10th studio album “Summer in Kingston” and in 2013 Sly & Robbie Presents Shaggy released a collaborative album titled “Out of Many, One Music.”
