MPACK the Vote at Red Square: Benefit supporting the Cooperative Economics and Vote 2012 Initiative featuring live jazz from the Out of the Box Quartet starting at 6, followed by DJ Trumastr and DJ TGIF.
Patrick Porter at the Foundry for Art Design and Culture: Local musician Patrick Porter will perform in the Loft, which is a really cool space if you’ve never checked it out before.
Unity 8 at the Fuze Box: A handful of local DJs playing music you can dance to, all night.
Electric Equinox at Broadway Brew in Troy: House music dance party in the Collar City.
Mayer Hawthorne and Cults at Skidmore: First big show of the season at Skidmore.
Saturday October 13
Deer Tick at the Putnam Den: Pretty solid indie-folkish experimental rock band with support from Barons in the Attic and Wild Adriatic.
Waka Flocka at Upstate Concert Hall: Rap music in Clifton Park.
Uncle Sam Cyclocross Grand Prix: 7th Annual Uncle Sam CX race taking place in Prospect Park in Troy. Go heckle and drink beer!
Hellions of Troy vs. Pair O’ Dice City Rollers at Rollerama: Support your local Hellions and check out roller derby if you haven’t before.
Shop Show at Fuze Records: Agent Ribbons and Emily Sprague performing at Fuzz Records on Lark Street. Support local music and be sure to donate a lil something to the bands since the show is graciously free.
An evening of dark synthpop at the Fuze Box: Exactly what it sounds like, I think. Featuring Todd is New Each Moment, Sun Burdens and the Black Ships. 80s night afterwards.
Women Who Rock II at Justin’s: DJ Trumastr spinning hits from all-female musicians in support of raising awareness (and funds via t-shirts available at the bar) to continue the battle against breast cancer.
