Lake George man facing multiple charges following police chase

TROY — A police chase through Troy and Albany resulted in the arrest of a Lake George man, who was charged with numerous traffic violations and drug-related charges. Michael Streeter, 27, was arrested in Albany after a K-9 apprehension for evading an attempted traffic stop near the area of Hoosick and Tenth Streets.

According to police, around 9:15 p.m. Friday, a Troy Police patrol unit responded to the area near Stewart’s on Hoosick Street attempting to locate a driver that had reportedly been driving recklessly. Police spotted a vehicle matching the description committing what they described as an “obvious traffic violation.” Police said that the driver refused to stop, and then led police outside the city to South Pearl Street in Albany.

The driver then stopped the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but was taken down by K-9 ELZA. Police said Streeter suffered minor injuries from the K-9 apprehension, but that there were no other injuries or notable property damage.

Streeter was charged by Troy Police with failure to signal, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, Driving With Ability Impaired, unlawfully fleeing police, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. Police did not release what controlled substance Streeter allegedly possessed at the time of arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday, Apr. 18.
