New York State Police make three arrests at Crossgates Mall Friday for serving alcohol to a minor

ALBANY — Three people were arrested during an underage drinking initiative at Crossgates Mall Friday for serving alcohol to a minor. The initiative, conducted by the New York State Police, checked 18 bars and convenience and liquor stores throughout Albany County.

James Roth, 27, of Rensselaer; Joseph Alteri, 25, of Albany; and Heidi Leger, 25, of Mechanicville; were all arrested for one count each of unlawful dealing with a child, a misdemeanor. Those arrested were working at Houlihan’s, The Standard and Ruby Tuesday's — all at Crossgates Mall — at the times of arrest. Businesses where a violation occurred were referred to the New York State Division of Alcoholic Beverage control. As part of the investigation, an undercover volunteer was sent into each establishment in an attempt to have the clerk or bartender serve the minor alcohol.

In a press release, the New York State Police thanked Albany County businesses for their support in preventing underage drinking.
